News and Headlines from the Glove Collector.com

GloveCollector.com goes live.

The Glove Collector Newsletter recently published its 100 th Issue (since 1989) with great stories from long-time sports equipment dealer, Keith Knabe and a feature on the Glove Box Man John Graham with photos of some of his latest acquisitions.

The latest Vintage Baseball Glove Pocket Price Guide #8 is now available for purchase. One can purchase the new, revised and comprehensive guide by using Paypal, and payee is glovecol@earthlink.net. Price is $8.95 postage paid. More than 100 new gloves names were added and the guide was updated to reflect the past years activity on the internet especially the eBay auctions.

Most changes in the new glove pocket guide have come as a result of the overabundance of very common and low condition gloves which have caused the prices on these particular gloves to fall. Meanwhile mint condition and hard to find hall of famer endorsed glove prices have risen. A large segment of the glove buying public has turned to the artifact gloves of the very early 1900s and 18th century gloves. Unusual gloves have also caught the eyes of purchasers and these will sometimes command higher prices in auctions than ever before. Biggest increase in interest though has come from those interested in the premium "pro style" gloves from Rawlings (heart of the hides) and Wilson USA Made A2000 models.

Most collectors are bemoaning the fact that it seems harder for find gloves in flea markets and antique places, compared to earlier days. This has undoubtedly resulted from the auction and sale sites on the internet. Goods that are easy to pack and ship like gloves are prime items for eBay.

Persons wanting quotes on individual gloves can write to the Glove Collector at 14057 Rolling Hills Lane, Dallas, TX 75240-3807. The glove collector does not return long-distance phone calls on glove information regarding value or dating.
